Hi,

I'll be entering Serbia soon via Hungary probably. I plan to slowly drive/camp/Stay at accomadation on the way.

How do I handle the police registration. I have no ideas where I will be staying and don't want to plan.

Do I register each day even thou I have no address?

Cheers

Dan

If I heard right it is obligation of your host. I had 2 girls from Poland last year, but I did not register them.

Hello, Thank you for the reply.

I will have not host during my stay, so I guess I'll just have to go to the Police station.  :shockkk:

If you stay in a hotel or hostel or any other kind of legal establishment they will register you

Tourist agencies will probably register you for a small fee, or you can maybe find someone over Couchsurfing to do it for you, since it actually costs nothing but time. I guess campsites should register you as well, just ask for the piece of paper once you're there.

Here's a brief excerpt from website of our Ministry of Internal Affairs (one-pass translation by me :) - organizations and individuals you're staying with are obligated to register you within 12 hours of your arrival. If you don't have any kind of a host, you're obligated to register (yourself) within 24 hours. So, if you're staying for less than 24 hours, no registration is required.

Also, if you have a host who isn't registered for tourism, I believe you have to go with him to the police to register. Whenever I had relatives from Croatia, they had to go with us to the police. It used to be the same for me when staying with them in Croatia, but this year (in Croatia) we were told the host can come alone, with our passports. So, not 100% sure on this one.

But please keep in mind it is always good to register for the security purposes, so the police knows your last location, should it be important. So even if you don't register, it's always a good idea to let someone know about your whereabouts. Someone local, if possible.
