ok, you are left with two choices and I'll try to go into the smallest detail:

nr 1. train.. at 19:45 (in Bratislava) you have the Jan Jesenius train which arrives at Keleti PU at 22:30

and then at 23:25 you have a train going to Belgrade (arrives at 06:29)

pros:

a. you don't have to change train stations.. one train arrives to Keleti and the other leaves from Keleti

and you only have one hour in between so you don't need to wait in Budapest for that long

b. you travel during night and thus save time

cons:

a. the ticket office in Budapest works only until 19:30 so you can't buy the Budapest - Belgrade ticket there

which means that you would have to buy the ticket in Bratislava, meaning that it's more expensive that way

nr 2. bus + train.. this option is way way cheaper.. there is this agency called The Student Agency

(the website is: http://www.studentagency.cz/).. they commute BA - BP on a daily basis, twice a day..

you can take the bus leaving Bratislava at 10:45 and the ticket is cca. 5 euros (really!)

then the problem is, that this bus arrives at Nepliget bus station and you can't get to Keleti on time for the 13:15 train to Belgrade.. so you would have to spend the day in Budapest.. which is not bad at all, since I personally love Budapest (but if you have a lot of luggage..) and then you take the 23:25 train to Belgrade..

pros: cheap!!

cons: spending the whole day in Budapest (or is it a pro)

you need to book the ticket in ADVANCE (they don't sell it ON the bus although there is always some free space)

so you have to go to their offices in Bratislava

Address:

Obchodná 48

Telefon: +421 2 20 50 20 50

Working Hours: Mon- Fri 9:00-18:00

Obchodna is the one where all the stores are.. in the very center of the city..

Hope I managed to help..

Hey all!

All this previous info was great, but I've heard there is an IC train from Belgrade via Budapest and Bratislava to Prague called Avala. I'm not getting much out of Slovak Railways site but at Serbian Railways website it says that the train is due from Bratislava at 9:50 and arrives at Belgrade at 20:50.

I'm planning to come by the railway station here in Bratislava today or tomorrow and check it out, but if anybody has any concrete info about this line I'll be more than grateful for details.

Thanx!

SRB:

Pozdrav svima,

Hvala unapred!

There is a direct train from Bratislava to Belgrade (I used it 1 month ago). If you buy Bratislava-Belgrade ticket on Bratislava train station the price is 52 euros- but there is other solution: buy the ticket Bratislava-Budapest (12,80 eur). After you arrive in Budapest simply go out and buy ticket Budapest-Belgrade for 12,5 eur- and after that just go back to the same train which doesn't depart almost 2h after arrival from Bratislava.

Also, there is every day mini-van connection Bratislava-Belgrade, the one way price is 30 eur.
