Jer cilj nije više maksimizacija profita nego postizanje monopola.

After Hagia Sophia, Turkey's historic Chora church also switched to mosque

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan reconverted the historic Chora church, one of Istanbul’s most celebrated Byzantine buildings, into a mosque on Friday, a month after opening the famed Hagia Sophia to Muslim worship.

The original plan had been to send an investigation team – auditors, accountants, lawyers – into the country. But in the end, after a long wait, I had been the only person to receive a letter of invitation. This seemed even weirder in light of the fact that the US Embassy had been responsible for getting all our letters of invitation and I was the sole non-American in the party. (The State Department was incidentally far more effective than the diplomats of my own country, who gave up on me at a very early stage in the process.) At Istanbul, a team from Turkish Airlines had arrived at the boarding gate two hours before the flight and set up a perimeter around the desk using stretchy queue barriers. The entrance was guarded by a number of ground staff. As soon as I began walking towards it carrying my passport and boarding card, the reason for the precautions became clear. I was approached by one Turkmen after another, each of them cursing when I refused to accept the bubble-wrapped packages they tried to press on me.

Yugoslavia’s Corbusien city divided by a ‘Berlin Wall’

A ‘planned city’, Nova Gorica didn’t exist until after the Second World War, when Italy signed the Paris Peace Treaty with the Allies and Yugoslavia. With the areas throughout the province scattered into villages and settlements, the Yugoslav authorities decided to build their own city that all these areas could rely on — and hence, Nova Gorica was born.

Around the year 2003, Germany started to shrink. When we look at the official statistics for this period, we see that the population slowly declined for several years. Then, in 2011, something strange happened: The population suddenly dropped by almost 1.5 million.

How a Portuguese-to-English Phrasebook Became a Cult Comedy Sensation

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 19th century, a relatively unknown author named Pedro Carolino rapidly gained intercontinental popularity over a small Portuguese-to-English phrasebook. English as She Is Spoke (or O novo guia da conversação em portuguez e inglez) was originally intended to help Portuguese speakers dabble in the English tongue, but was penned by a man who spoke little to no English himself. And, instead of helping Portuguese speakers learn a second language, it became a cult classic for fans of inept and unintentional humor.

-U tenku sam", "Zeleni pas ide pored plavog psa" i sl.

Btw, "As she is spoke" se i dan-danas koristi kao inside joke među lingvistima:
