travelling by bus or by train from belgrade to tirana, albania

5 posts in this topic

Hi there!! some friends and I will be travelling between belgrade and tirana, albania in early march. we have been told that flying is our best option. However, in order to keep our costs down, we are considering travelling by bus or by train. However, we have not been able to find any information on the internet, maybe the information we need is in serbian (which we dont speak).

Please would you advise on whether bus and train links exist, how frequent they are and how much they cost. Any and all the information you can give will be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Maya

There is definitely no direct train from Bg to Tirana (I think there is no railroad between Serbia and Albania at all). I doubt there is a bus either. You will probably have to take a bus to Pristina or some other town in Kosovo and from there catch another bus to Tirana. You might also consider a train from Belgrade to Podgorica or Bar in Montenegro, from where it's also very possible that there is a bus to Tirana.

Train shedules can be checked at www.zeleznicesrbije.org and buses from Bg at www.bas.co.yu

Maybe somone who knows more details will tell you more.

I`ve done it, 10 days ago. Yes, there is no direct land line between Serbia and Albania. But, you can come there quite easy. I travelled through Tetovo, Macedonia. Every night, you have a bus to Tetovo, from Belgrade main bus station, at 08:30 PM. One way ticket is 1.300,00 and return is 1.900,00 dinars. You`ll be early in the morning in Tetovo, from where, every day you have a bus ride to Tirana at 09:00 AM and 09:00 PM. One way ticket (Tetovo-Tirana) is 15 and return is 25 EUR. By the way, from Tirana to Tetovo, you also have departures at 09:00 AM and PM. From Tetovo to Belgrade, you have a bus at 09:00 PM (there are some more buses, but I told you the time of departure if you wanna use the same bus company, for the cheaper return ticket).

Have a nice trip Maya. Albania is a nice surprise, for me.
