January 6, 200916 yr Zdravo Kako Ste? So I'm kind of new at traveling anywhere foreign to say the least since i'm only 19 and have never traveled outside my country before. I live in the USA and I'm planning on going to Serbia this Summer to see my friend from there. I met her while she was a Foreign exchange student here. She has been trying to help me with some of my questions but she doen't know to much about traveling abroad either. So I thought that someone on here could possibly help me with some of my questions. First off, What exactly do you do when you arrive in the airport in Belgrade (Beograd)? Do I go through customs and passport checking before getting my luggage? Do the employee's at the airport know how to speak English really well? (Since I don't know Serbian to well ...hopefully I will by the end of my trip) Should I just take a Visa Card to get money? Or should I take US dollars to exchange for Dinars? Is there alot of places to use my Visa Card to get money out off? Well I think that is it...If you have any other advice for me it is well appreciated. Oh and just to tell you I won't need a Hotel since I will be staying with her and her family for a month this summer. Well sorry for all the question but if you could answer any of these questions that would help me alot. Hvala
January 6, 200916 yr Hello Unexperienced Traveler!!! Do not go to Serbia, because we like to eat Americans !!! Of course, you`re welcome here and I feel a bit proud because you used to come to Serbia as your first "out of USA" destination. There is a lot of time until the summer and I`m sure you will find many useful infos, about our country. About your exact questions. Well, when you land on BG airport, you`ll first go through passport control. You need to have a passport to enter Serbia, but no visa. Police officers, at the passport checking control, are not masters in English, but you`ll probably understand them perfect. All what they can ask you is what is the purpose of your visit. Just answer that you are going to visit your friend and that`s all. When you leave them, you`ll take your baggage. After this "operation", you should cross custom control. Maybe they will also ask you something about sort of your luggage and that`s all. After all of this procedure, you`ll see one friendly and smiled face of your Serbian friend, who is looking forward to see you again! About money. Well, there are a lot of ATM`s, where you can take cash from your VISA card. Also, it is not a bad idea to take some small amount of cash with you, in your vallet. Here, Euros are the most popular foreign "cash", but as you will change your money (I mean cash) in the exchange office, it is the same if you have USD or EUR. If you have some more questions, about Serbia, feel free to ask us.
