Hey guys,

I'm new in Serbia and need a little information about traveling in here. On Easter I'm going to Tara Mountain, more specifically to Kaludjerske Bare, because of the direct bus line from Belgrade.

I'd like to know how  the weather is there right know, if it is still snowing or not, temperature... Another thing is about accommodation. Do I need to make reservation before hand ? Or I can just go there, and try to find a place to stay on my first day ?

Apart from that, I'd really appreciate any other relevant information that you guys can give about it.

Thanks.

Right now its 7 degrees Celsius, its raining, no snow. Tara is beautiful, many things to see and experience. I suggest finding accommodation on Mitrovac, because, for me, that is the most beautiful part of Tara. If you want to stay in hotel, you should make reservation in advance, but there is also a lot of private houses that offer beds. Anyway, try to find something on google, and call, just to be sure. Have a nice time, and feel free to ask if you want to know anything else.

I agree that Mitrovac is the most beautiful place on Tara. For accommodation don't worry you can find very good private apartments or houses, you have something like tourist office on Mitrovac, go there and ask for help.

You can easily find a room in a private house in any village on Tara mountain. Good places to ask are stores are restaurants, they will point you to the houses with rooms to rent. But do not expect anyone to speak english there; ask a serbian friend to write down on a piece of paper what you are looking for and show it to the people. If you like to travel around and climb mountains, a good idea would be to join one of the mountaineering clubs. Every weekend they organize trips to different mountains in Serbia and Balkans, do some hiking, usually not so strenuous, and visit interesting cultural sights on the way. These are mostly young people so you may expect them to speak english. I am not a member of any club, but my sister is, and she is quite happy how it works. It is a cheap and fun way to travel around, especially if you don't have a car and you would like to see places that are not so easily accessible. You can see a list of trips here: http://www.zeleznicar.org.rs/, there a two trips to Tara in april, as far as I can see.
