Hi everyone here, I'm new, I live in Paris and I've never been to Serbia/Bosnia

I'd like to make a surprise visit to a friend that lives in Bijeljina, so I saw the closest airport is Nikola telsa.

Problem is, I don't know how to go from Nikola Telsa to Bijeljina :(

I heard that if I ever take a taxi it would be very expansive and it'd be better for me if I ever take the Bus?

And I'm scared to get lost because I don't know a word of serbian, the only thing I can say is Volim Te & Okej... lol

I really don't know what to do so if you could ever help me, i'd be really grateful!

xx

Definitely, taxi is not an option. Bijeljina is around 130km from the airport. I guess, you can take a bus to the city center, and then from there ask for the bus station. There are buses going to Bijeljina on almost every hour. Check this link: http://www.bas.rs/RedVoznje.aspx?lng=sc&idDrzave=59

Update: I just saw how this link looks like. Alright, where you can see "Држава", look for the "Република Српска", and below that field there should be drop-down menu, so you should look for ”Бијељина”.

Update2: :D There is ridiculous English version. "Република Српска" is "Serbian Republic"!?

So it means, when I arrive at Nikola Telsa, I need to take a bus that leads me to the city center, you mean in Belgrade, right? And from Belgrade there are buses that go to Bijeljina, directly? In Which station in Belgrade there are buses that go to Bijeljina?

And the website I'm sure could be helpful but I don't understand Serbian, and when it's written in cyrillic...it's worse because I really feel like I understand nothing ^^;

update: I just checked and I saw the list of the buses that go from Belgrade to Bijeljina, etc.

So, exactly, to find that bus. When I come out of the airport, where do I go?

update2: Omg, thank you so much for the English version ^^

Check the Updates on previous message ;)

From airport: http://www.beg.aero/passengers/to_and_from_the_airport/transportation.106.html

The name/number of the bus line is 72, and it goes to "Zeleni venac". From that point, there is less then 1km walking to the main bus station, located at "Karadjordjeva" Street. I did a picture:

Ohhhh my God, thank youuuu so much!!

Do you think I can walk around one km without getting lost in a city I don't know ? D:

Plus it's the very first time I travel alone ://

Do you know at what time you'll be arriving to Belgrade? Perhaps we (klubputnika) could arrange someone to meet you.

I think I'm going next week, I'm just making sure everything will be ok and I won't get lost once I get there so, I still didn't buy my plane tickets, but if someone could ever meet me and get me to that bus station that would be soooooooo amazing and kind ^^

I don't think it's going to be a problem. If we don't find anyone better, I have a plenty of free time.  zvizhd

Just let me know on time.

Anyone from this forum is wellcome to join.  :yok:

Aww, as long as I don't bother anyone then it's not a problem, I just don't want to disturb ^^;

And what is RSD? They don't accept euros, so it means I have to change the money when I arrive??

And, the minibus stops close to the bus station, closer than where the 72 stops, then?

I don't have to walk almost one km in that case?

And in Paris there are lots of subways everywhere, it's not possible to get lost there, is it ^^ ?

> And what is RSD? They don't accept euros, so it means I have to change the money when I arrive??

RSD is a symbol for local currency - dinar. Yes, you have to pay with dinars. Use your credit/debit card to take dinars from an ATM, there is one in the baggage pick-up area.

> And, the minibus stops close to the bus station, closer than where the 72 stops, then? I don't have to walk almost one km in that case?

Yes, as I said, the minibus stops at the train station, which is right next to the bus station (100m). Tell the driver that you want to get off at the train station, it might not stop if nobody asks.

What if I don't have a credit card? :/

What if the driver doesn't speak english? D:

There is an exchange office at the arrivals hall.

Print the map from the link above and show him that you want to get of at the stop marked as "Желез. станица".

In that case it's better to stay at home and forget about Bijeljina :) Don't be so scared and don't worry too much. There are many people in Serbia who speak English, just ask somebody to help you. There must be some place at the airport where you can exchange the money, and even if you take bus 72, it's not so complicated to go from Zeleni Venac to the Central bus station. If you need, we can send you the detailed map from google maps with detailed explanation how to get there and you can't get lost!

Just relax!

I'm a 18 years old girl, so it's SHE, not he, eh, it's the first time I travel alone + in a country I don't know + I don't know a word of serbian, I think it's normal that I'm a bit nervous no? ...

@ Dragance

A detailled map would really help, and I've been told there aren't a lot of people who speak english, so that's why I was scared ,lol.

Your post just relaxed me ^^

Ok, probably you won't know any other country where you will travel, neither the language. The only difference is that this is your first time :) One good advice is that you should always take care to look self confident even if you know that you are lost :) Just pretend that you are an experienced traveller and you will probably avoid troubles anywhere.

You should always ask the people around to help you, if they speak English, they certainly will. Even if they don't speak, they will try at least. If you don't know to pronounce the name of the place you want to go, just write it on the piece of paper and show to the people.

I will try to give you detailed explanation with the map as soon as possible.

Guys, if somebody has more free time at this moment, please, explain the details!

You can see the map here:

Point A is the place where the bus no 72 will arrive, coming from direction of "Brankov most" (Branko's bridge), which you can see on the map. Point B is the Central bus station (departures only). As you can notice, this is not the shortest way, but, google doesn't want to show the best and mostly used one. But, I will give you detailed instructions, as I promised :) Here it is!

From the point A, you should go to the south. On your left side you will see the big farmers' market "Zeleni venac". After 150m, at the first corner, you should turn right to Kamenicka ("Каменичка") street, go downstairs to the park ("Парк Луке Ћеловића" on the map), pass through the park, cross the street once, and then one more time to the left and you are in front of the bus station. Don't be confused if you see the buses in "Park Bristol", that is only arrival station.

Another option, much easier for you, is if you use the bus A1. It will stop in front of the Railway station, you can see it at the bottom of the map, 200m southeast from the Central bus station. You can't miss it :)

Bus no 72 is a public bus, which has a lot of stops on its way, but the one where you will go out is the last one. The ride takes around 40min. After you cross the bridge, pay attention when all the people go out :) You should buy the ticket inside the bus, or better at some shop inside the airport. The ticket should cost around 80 dinars (0,80 EUR). Inside the bus it is more expensive. It is necessary to validate the ticket in the machine inside the bus!

Bus A1 is better and easier option for you. The ticket costs 250 dinars (2,5 EUR), and I think you can buy it inside the bus. It has only one stop before the Railway station. It will cross another bridge, the one where is written ("Земунски пут"), pass by the Central bus station and stop in front of the Railway station, which is 200-300m far. You can see the schedule and the map here:

http://www.beg.aero/upload/Mapa_i_tabela.pdf

Red line is the direction to the airport, and the brown one from the airport. The stop with the name "Желез. станица" is Railway station.

You can't get lost now :mah:

Good luck and welcome!

PS: The name of the airport is "Nikola TeSLa"! It got the name by our, definitely most famous, scientist and one of the most important scientists in the human history smartass

Thank you so much, now it's sure I can't get lost! : D

Very well, it's all settled then.

My offer still stands but I would recommend you listen to Dragance, elefteros, vukad & co. They are more experienced travelers and, if I may add, honorable elders of this forum.  :D

Wellcome.
