Dear Serbian Travelers,

In few weeks I must go from Sofia to Bratislava by train. And I am thinking that I should buy the tickets separately Sofia-Belgrade and Belgrade-Bratislava, because probably the Bulgarian railways will give me much higher price if I buy it all at once. Still havent checked though.

Anyway my questions are regarding the direct train that leaves Belgrade daily and goes directly to Bratislava Hlavna Stanica.

Beograd-Bratislava hl.st- 06:48-18:06

Do you know how much is the price of the ticket? In Serbian dinars or Euros?

Can I buy the ticket from Belgrade Station (does the ticket office work at night) in case I arrive from Sofia around 4 am at the morning?

Or I have to buy it from inside the train? Are there any change bureau at the station working at night (I know the station but dont remember now).

I would appreciate any further information regarding this Belgrade-Bratislava train ?

first of all, in my personal opinion, you should buy ticket from Belgrade to Budapest (ask for one way Budapest special, price is 13 Eur) and then in Budapest ticket to Bratislava. That combination is cheaper than direct train and you still go with same 6:48 train.

Ticket office works  at that time. You have exchange office just accross the side station entrance.

But after I buy ticket to Bratislava do I go with the same train from Belgrad or another train Budapest-Bratislava?

I think you will have just enough time to get out of train, buy ticket and get back on same train. Even if you do not manage that, you have trains to Bratislava very often from Keleti station (every 2 hours).

I just called the Bulgarian railways and if you buy the ticket Sofia-Bratislava is 138.50 levs, around 70 euros...

Just to compare Sofia-Belgrade is around 20 euro, and if Belgrade-Budapest is 13....you can imagine is 33 so far...and I am sure Budapest - Bratislava or even Belgrade-Bratislava (with the direct train) would be much less thah 37......euros...

Just one suggestion for Sofia-Belgrade train. Cheapest method is to just sit in train in Sofia and when conductor arrives to check for tickets, give him 2 Euro. No talk, nothing, just give 2 Euro. That is enough to get you to Dimitrovgrad, which is first stop in Serbia. There you just buy ticket to Belgrade in one direction. Nothing new, everybody goes to and from Sofia that way.

Especially if you travel with some local people.Just do what they do (you'll notice than NONE of them have ticket ).

Something looks wrong here to me.

'Cause,from Ferencvaros you need...something like 10,maybe 15 minutes maximum to get to Keleti.It can't be that it takes 35 minutes
