hitchhiking

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'll be in Serbia in july and was wondering how easy it is to hitchhike around? If I have been a few times in Vojvodina now and I always used bus or train (and once with a car with some people, they helped me after the train just stopped in a small village between Belgrade and Novi Sad, and the people around me said it would't go further anymore :D )

Is it it different in different parts of the country? What about hitchhiking in the neigbouring countries? Is it safe for a girl alone? for a girl and a guy?

Let me know! :)

Hvala!

Yasmine

It is not a problem to hh around Serbia but it is good to know some Serbian language. I usually hh alone and never had problems and it is quite easy to hh around Serbia.

Bosnia too.

In Croatia it is forbidden to hh on highway but never had problems there either.

Hungary, the same situation on highways like Croatia.

Thank you for the replies! I had seen already the information on this website. It's very usefull and i'm sure i'll use it. :) Good to know the countries you can't hitchhike on highways, cause for now i thought it was only like that for Germany.

Any other opinions or experiences of girls hitchhiking alone in Serbia? and in Balkans?

My wife hitchhiked alone for years in Vojvodina and I can remember perhaps 3 times that she had minor problems, which means you should be fine. Of course, she does speak the local language...
