Zdravo,

During this season I would like to go with friends to Durmitor for skiing. I'm not thinking about Zabljak but offroad skitour trips with rucksack and tent. I've been in Crna Gora during summer time but I don't know what weather conditions I can find there during winter/spring.

For now I've been thinking about march/april for 10 days. If there is somebody who know good this area and would like us than it will be great.

maybe that's enough for the beginning but of course I have many, many questions to you.

razumem takodje Srpski i nemam problema sa razgovorom.

pozdrav

Michal,

Varsava, Poljska

Słowiańskiemu bratu, chcę powiedzieć, zapraszamy do Czarnogóry!

Pozdrowienie.

P.S. Użyłem program do tłumaczenie :D

zdravo,

Pozdrav.

It depends  of the whether conditions and which part of Durmitor you plan to visit, but there are years when snow cover can be up to 100 cm in April, or even more.

Your information about temperature is not correct( visit www.meteo.co.me)-until last Saturday temperature was almost 30 degrees, but tomorrow it will not pass 15 degrees(in all Montenegro regions).

It is -5 C (-10 C real feel) in Zabljak now, currently light snow is falling, and tomorrow daily high in Zabljak will  not pass 0 C.Brrrrrrr :D

About ski sports, I think it is best to visit this forum (www.skijanje.rs/forum/index.php) and on that site (www.skijanje.rs) you have basic information about all major ski resorts in Balkan countries, especially about ones in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even some in Poland, but only Zakopane:).

You can also visit www.durmitorcg.com/forum, where you can find variety of topics including skiing and snowboard, and I might add that Durmitor is very good for this sport.I hope this will help.Welcome.

Keep up with learning of Serbian language, you seem to have talent. If you have questions feel free to ask.Greetings.

Evo ti izvještaj o dva najpoznatija centra u Crnoj Gori.

Skijaške terene povezuje osam vučenica i četiri dvoseda.

MOUNTAIN HUTS & SHELTERS: Durmitor is one of the few areas in Montenegro where there are mountain huts.

At Lokvice there is are two shelters (sklonište) that are unmanned and open all year round. One performs the role of a social room with a table, bench and a wood stove. The second, a little higher, has a single wooden sleeping platform. There is spring providing fresh water just beyond the huts. Look for signs reading izvor or voda.

On the south-western shore of Skrcka Jezera, there is a staffed mountain hut (planinarski dom) that is open during the summer only.

There is no shelter (sklonište) at Kleknata glava, in Valoviti do,. This was burnt down.

U njemu postoji mogućnost smještaja 6 do 12 osoba.Orvoren je tokom cijele godine.Nema izvora vode.

hvala,

so, as I see, there are two places which can be used during winter and spring. Lokvice looks good (on the map) for a ski tour camp. Do you think there will be anybody in there during march and april or we can just assume that it will be free and stop on searching any other options?

Michal,

that is the best option if you want to pass with little money spending.Vlada said that on the south-western shore of Skrcka Jezera, there is a staffed mountain hut (planinarski dom) that is open during the summer only, but I heard that it is possible to get a key of the hut if you ask.You should inform yourselves about this .

One other option is to go to village Mala Crna Gora, which is cut off from civilization most of the year :), with several houses, but I suppose it would be possible to spend few nights there, with really symbolic payment.Do not worry these are good people, and I am sure they would appreciate  company:).

So, maybe, you have three or four options.

On the other hand, accommodation in the city  should not be too expensive, even for the Polish standard.I heard  that renting apartment in the city for six people is 40 euros a night, which is not too expensive.

About rescue service, as soon as I find mobile phones of the people who are in charge of rescue, I will inform you. But, it can be a problem where to charge phone battery when you are in the mountain :)

hvala,

and can anybody tell me to whom I should speak about planinarski dom? I cannot find Mala Crna Gora on the normal map and google.maps too. By the way, when I saw Durmitor on google.maps than I recognize that it's so small I think that Tatry mountains are aprrox. twice bigger. By the way friends from Zakopane just started skitour season http://picasaweb.google.pl/pontixx/OtwracieSezonu091016PazdziernikRewelacja# :)

OK. and how to get to Zabljak from Poland during winter? There are no cheap flights from Warszawa so I fought that best option is by car via Croatia. Do you have any other suggestions?

one problem can be amount of equipment, second is protection of this equipment during travel. I see that to Budapest from Warszawa is only 11 hours. Can you recommend me any Serbian/Montenegrian train website to check out trains from Budapest?

Second option is car, than you don't have to care how much stuff you have and where and when to find bus/car/train.

Sorry for the late reply :), I was absent.

Village  Mala Crna Gora is located north west from the town of Zabljak, and it is placed between Tara river and Susica canyons

I now that usually during winter people are cut off from the rest of the world, because of the snow, but they have supplies for several months.

I do not know how many inhabitants are there during winter months, but I  think that they have virtually no visitors during winter ;D.

As for the hut in Skrcko lake, there is no road there during winter, but you should try to ask for the key in  the office of the National park of Durmitor in Zabljak.

I am not sure whether it will be possible for you to go there, simply because the road is under snow, but then again you have skis and maybe some of the locals or ski tours go there, so maybe you will be able to stay.

The best solution is low cost or train to Budapest, then train to Belgrade, and then train to Mojkovac in Montenegro (better option than Bijelo Polje), but others spoke already of this matter.

Anyway, there are  two trains to Mojkovac from Belgrade, one at 10:10 hours , and other at 22:10 hours. The journey lasts, well.....you never now for sure, but you will be able to be there in less than 12 hours  :D.Just kidding, about eight hours.Once in Mojkovac, you can catch a bus to Zabljak.

If you still decide to go there by car, this is road map of Serbia and Montenegro http://c.imagehost.org/view/0939/AutoKartaSrbije_www_planacafe_com.jpg

I've been traveling by train in Serbia so you don't have to explain me how work Serbian time table ;)

As I see it's possible to get by train from Warszawa to Beograd in less than 24 h. That's good idea. I coudn't find information is there an option to have a sleeping car.

believe me, it won't be a problem :) I'll contact with the office of National Park

You do have  possibility to get sleeping  sleepeng car from Budapest to Belgrade and from Belgrade to Mojkovac. You have two options.

Option I

Budapest-Belgrade ( departure is around  13:05 hours and arrival at 20:30 hours ) train with sleeping cars

Belgrade-Mojkovac ( departure around 22:10 hours  and arrival at 05:00 hours) train with sleeping cars.

Problem with this option  is that there is a BIG problem to find  bus or transportation to Zabljak at that hour ;D.But you could wait for several hours.

Option II

Budapest-Belgrade ( departure is around  23:00 hours and arrival at 06:15 hours )  train with sleeping cars

Belgrade-Mojkovac (  departure is around  10:10 hours and arrival at 17:15hours ) train with no sleeping cars

As I have promised- Zoran Vojinovic chief of the Mountain Rescue Service( Gorska Služba Spasavanja),department for Zabljak, mob.phone 00 382 69 480 644

Please, DO NOT abuse this number, and call him only in the case of emergency.

Pozdrowienia i bezpiecznej podróży, słowiański brate.

I'm thinking to go on skies from Durmitor to Tara river for rafting but on skies. What do you think... how long will the snow stay to do it by skies and since when we can do rafting by renting a pontoon?
